Dancer- Margo Smolik

Brenden is a professional dancer associated with Open Dance Project, a renowned contemporary company based in Houston. Originally from Long Island, New York, Brenden honed his skills as a competitive dancer for eight years at David Sanders Dance Dynamics. During his time in New York, he showcased his talent in prestigious productions such as The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. At the age of 13, Brenden relocated to Houston, where he embarked on a successful career. Following high school, he joined Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines and Princess Cruise Lines as a dancer and performer, captivating audiences on their entertainment fleets. Additionally, Brenden achieved recognition as a tap soloist in Japan's Tokyo Disney's Big Band Beat. Notably, he reached the Academy finals on season 14 of SYTYCD, demonstrating his exceptional abilities. Currently settled in Houston, Brenden continues to contribute to the dance world with his passion and expertise.

Fun Fact: The company's name is a play on "Lock and Keys" due to Brenden's belief that by collecting high quality key dancers, you could unlock something unique!

Cameo Reneé, a native of Kansas City, Missouri, is an exceptional contemporary dancer. With extensive training in various studios and at DanceWorks Conservatory, she obtained a BFA in Dance and Performance from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, specializing in modern dance. Under the guidance of esteemed faculty members like DeeAnna Hiett, Mary Pat Henry, Gary Abbott, and Sabrina Madison-Cannon, Cameo collaborated with renowned dance companies, including the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Störling Dance Theater, working alongside accomplished guest artists. Beyond her artistic pursuits, Cameo passionately shares her knowledge and love for dance through teaching engagements in Houston. She is a valuable member of influential dance ensembles, such as the Black Angels for Tobe Neigwe and Urban Souls Dance Company. Currently approaching her fifth season with Open Dance Project, Cameo continues to showcase her exceptional skills and artistry.

Fun Fact: The company's name is also an homage to "The Key Player Dancers". A professional dance group headed by Brenden's first hip-hop instructor, Herman Charles III.

Joy Crissmon is a recent university scholar graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. During her time at SFASU she has earned a degree in Dance, with a focus in Performance and Choreography, as well as a degree in Theatre, with a focus in Acting and Directing. Her dance style is a fusion of modern, ballet and Contemporary; Joy strives to use dance as a tool to uplift, encourage and inspire others.

Josh is a professional dancer with 3 years of experience. He teaches hip hop, Acro, and contemporary at three dance studios and is part of the winning team Soreal. He has trained under various choreographers and worked with artists like Jon Glenn, Jaysn, Brent, and Eric Harleston. Josh runs his own entertainment business, GrooveUp Ent., which offers a diverse range of performers for events and parties in Houston. He aspires to share his passion for dance and blessings with others in the future.

Margo Smolik is a dancer and movement educator with over two decades of performance experience. She began her in-studio tap, jazz and contemporary training at Juleigh Holley’s School of Dance in Katy, TX and later studied at the University of Houston with a focus on modern and ballet. She has since collaborated with local artists such as Rivkah French Choreography and The Lockin’ Keez Dance Company to create interdisciplinary works that engage a variety of audiences. Margo hopes to inspire the next generation of dancers through her teaching at Dance Du Coeur and Hunter Dance Center. Fueled by the challenge and potential of movement as art, Margo will not skip a beat as she continues to hone her craft in Houston and beyond.
